faces

one
of your faces
opens

like a flower, to
the sound
of water

that races
madly over cliffs, after a shower

one of your faces
is shut
and reflects the moon

you say you would rather
the rain did not ruffle your petals

you have had quite enough
of seasons

see, how well you have hardened
your rippled skin
into stone

one of your faces
speaks to me, in the way of weather
fierce and cold

one of your selves
is scattered
in my fingers, fragrant
and falling

faces and choices that one makes with the choices that goes with whether not to be caught in love and be sane or to be insanely in love,

I love the last stanza dear bird....and I quite know your hands won't let it go so easily :)

Know what....i was feeling half-dead when i woke up in the morning....and now I have the fire from your soul....thats why I am addicted to poetry! :)

love,
devika

Devika--I was missing you! Your comment is so right on...I think we know which side we come down on, don't you? (The insane one--can we help it? what do you think?)
I am so glad to hear the poem gave you new life--and your comment does the same for me!

Oh my dear, i was missing the links to reach...and sometimes am like caught in a flow! :)

insane -- that's my sane self...i mean my normal self, i think and I behave in odd ways until the time I am free to love insanely! :)

and such others around us....i think it is on us to help them too...but some just fail to see,

but when we feel helpless, time can be a great healer....since i have been through it all so badly long before I knew myself...i think i can take life in its all complexities....isn't that easy always, but then as you say, we know ....as if in a reflex action! :)

and yes, I feel down and high for reasons I am not very sure of...or apparently no reason....your poems are a panacea for me! :)

love,
devika

Devika--"your poems are a panacea"--my goodness, you use words in such a flowing way--I hope you don't get carried away too far to swim your way back! Love to see you here any time, whatever time that might be...

Krystyna--thanks--and many many blessings to you too, every day!

Gosh love that last verse Firebird...hauntingly poignant.
So many sides to love hai-na? - and not always happy, beautiful and contentment...

Janice my dear friend...contentment in love is something you find deep inside...not in externals....I thought you knew that! :)

Beautiful. Is it just me or does this one have more going on than usual at the level of the language's sound?

Janice--Oh, I love what you say in your comment! You certainly sound like you have experience with these issues...and a loving perspective.

Devika--Pisces...I can just see you swimming back and forth, traveling between blogs...always in motion! I do think that Janice's comment agrees with yours--that we can't count on another person to bring us contentment--then where else could we find it but inside? And it can be a life's work to reach that place!

Paul--you are right, I am more aware of the sound of words since you got me interested in alliteration, and all that jazz...as is evident by the sentence you just wrote! Thanks for the challenge and inspiration...
