They are beautiful...I can only tell you they are called: singes in French (monkey, that is) lol What a perfect composition!
Devika--no I don't think you look like these monkeys...wonder if your husband would have a cheeky comment about that?
Lorraine--yes, I was trying to think of the word in French--thanks!
During pre-marriage dating he would literally call me monkey and donkey and all those names except my name...ways of expressing love, he says,
Now, when i hang around with children in my society..he says "stop monkeying around with those monkey kids" :)
Its only recently when I filled my blog profile that we came to know my Zodiac connection with monkey..and he says "he's never wrong!" :)

I am a monkey maniac, so is my brother. I will send him a link to your page. I have never seen 2 such different breeds of monkeys together. That weeping cherry is so beautiful to me, it looks like a tree you would see in heaven! Do you know if the cherries on it are ornamental or edible? How are you doing by the way?

Devika--Wow, I forgot you were a Zodiac monkey! That's a really cool sign to be...and I think your hsband was "right" about choosing his wife, don't you think?
Sheila--so many monkey-lovers! I had no idea...I have to investigate more next time I visit the zoo, I was in a hurry at closing time and may have missed the signs.
The cherry is purely ornamentsl--I don't recall ever seeing cherries on these trees...guess we have to make a choice! (By the way, my life is becoming crazier by the week, but I am blessed and not complaining!)

I'll agree with everyone here to say I'm pretty sure they're called "monkeys" - "Monkees" if last names are Tork, Dolenz, Jones or Nesmith.
But I think they are only called "singes" when they approach a camp fire too closely.
Paul--your comment has the ring of truth--could it be that you are also a Zodiac Monkey, like Devika?
Your fund of knowledge is impressive, as usual...and your wanderings in this direction are always appreciated!
