was it you

tell me the truth
was it you
who sent this hummingbird

that teases me into your world
of lilacs
and sky

did you put that white wisteria
in my path
to undo my breath

or this
alarming sudden swirl
of mockingbird's wings

tell me, was it you
who engineered me
to break apart

like a dry crust of soil
at the touch
of someone's heart

see, you have shattered
the skin of my soul

finally

with the sharp
ache
of beauty
in a mockingbird's song

with your warm wind
drifting around my shoulders

and this swift, obsessive
airborne speck

getting tipsy
on lilacs and sky

Wasn't it you who sent me
clouds one fine morning, my dear bird

[no I am not at all sad, I am so happy you sent me,
you know, how much i love rains...]

aren't the birds and
flowers an extension of life from those clouds, my dear bird, who carries my fire in your soul??

wonderful poem, my dear
but,
tell me the truth, my dear
to whom is this poem addressed?? :))

love, always

Devika--so happy to have your reflections in these words--
you said it well, about the source of these living miracles--
but for me, I sense that there is someone who knows when I need them to appear before me, and guides my steps to place me there--
this is who I am speaking to in the poem...

Devika--well, it certainly could be God, or angels, or whoever you believe lives in spirit and watches over you...sending all these gifts of love...

Lorraine--in my wildest dreams, I could not imagine a more wonderful comment! Love it!

Ah Firebird... how well you evoke the feelings of spirit - how it teases and tantalizes to finally consume us with love. Beautiful write. Simply beautiful.

Always a treat to be here, although I may be very silent about it. I believe in you and your talent from the beginning and I always will - until the end of time.

Devika--Is it that late again? Sigh...guess you are right about that! No, I don't think it is saying too much, for as you said before, I carry your fire in my soul...

TomScot--I thank you for believing in me, and so much appreciate when you are moved to write such a supportive comment! I am very touched indeed, what an honor...

Oh yes, my dear bird...but if you look at it straight...aren't all female souls carry that fire in their souls

to me it seems, some male souls are moving around with water pitchers! or was it me!

when talking of souls -- poetic souls especially --it becomes difficult to differentiate...

like I find myself always asking "was it you or me"?? :))

so you pulled Paul and Me together as a team? -- good God! :)

I enjoyed this beautiful written poem... I see angel wings.

Did you publish your poems, Firebird?

Devika--You are so, so funny! I can just see all the guys with their water pitchers--we know from experience, don't we?
As for you and Paul being a team--all I can say is that Zodiac monkeys are very special people--which you cannot deny!
And yes, I do agree with you about the fire...

Krystyna--love your comment! And I am thrilled that you see angel wings in the poem--yes, they are there...
No, I haven't published yet--but someday I will get it together, and you will be the first to be informed, I promise!

Devika, my sweet, I have to choose between writing a poem tonight, and getting a good night sleep so my brain will function tomorrow on my new job!
(I will be working with a world-famous neurologist, and believe me I need all my brain cells awake so as to not look like an idiot!)
I promise to do my best for you--I'm working on a new poem, but keep falling asleep before it's finished!

It sounds too exciting to me...and you, I know your intelligence and focus..you will excel! :)

Poem..you should then wait for it when it may flow to its completion! :))

Devika, my dear--
this is what I meant by "what would I do without you"--
who else does such a wonderful job of motivating me to write (sometimes I need a nudge in that direction!)
