conversation with a grapefruit

I was not ready
for that moment

when suddenly
your bitterness
gave way
to honey

lady, you knew
when you
peeled back my skin

that I was a mystery

your acid
made my heart shrink

but you were seeking
sweetness

do not lie

it is the fear of sharpness
that caused my eyes
to close

so
in that instant
when your hidden colors
blossomed on my tongue

I wept

why is that?

for the cells
in my being
that slept

"I wept

Wonder if excessive tartaric acid makes one weep :))

You put it all in such poetic ways..small little lines..I love it, as I love you :)

Devika--you make me smile! Do I think perhaps you are a chemical engineer...? Anyway, I think tartaric acid would make ME cry--not that I have tried it--
thank you for your sweet and sassy comment!

Devika--I can see you are developing the "civil" side of your multifaceted personality...! And I like all of it--be yourself--we will follow...

Lorraine--your comment is breathtaking, and I will treasure it in my heart--I needed that!

I cannot be, but myself, my dear..I am trying to be more accomodative of those who pinch me and others...But sometimes I just lose control :)

btw, "we will follow" -- is there anything "civil" about it??

We should all walk together, i believe..

devika

After reading such beautiful comments here,
I know my words will be too humble.
Fabulous!

Can I put this poem on my blog one day?

Well as I have a mind that can twist pretty much anything, I see several turns in this. All of which I like!!

Devika--you are right, walking together is the best--but if you lead in a loving direction, following is natural!

Krystyna--your offer is the highest praise--of course you can put this on your blog, I would be honored!

Pat--you are very perceptive, I would say...poems have a way of leading in unexpected directions!

Devika--perhaps "showing" or "inspiring" would be more acceptable than "leading"? That is what I meant. Of course you are right in what you say.
