do roses

do roses
get lonely

does the sky
even notice

while you search for fire
in those cold grains
of soil

does anyone care
for your painted edges
the color of love

or the force of your blood
that breathes grace
from every pore

is it enough
that I see you

or is there another reward
for beauty

Under the sky, don't we all feel lonely...at one point or other...

i think the sky sees it all. and protects them all..the roses and the thorns, leaves, et all :)

"is it enough
that I see you"

yeah, my dear bird...it is enough sometimes...
sometimes you know you want some specific one to see you...But life isn't a dream fulfilled :)

i love your pure sentiments in poem...truly they are special to me..

It is enough that you love it so, you give so much to nature, they take the love and with the sun they grow, I absolutely adore this poem....

Devika--your comments are so eloquent and full of truth, and always special to me!
I like what you say about the sky protecting all--
Life not being a dream fulfilled...that's still an unanswered question...still trying to find out what the dream is!

Lorraine--I hope you are right! I do feel that plants feel the love we give them, and it helps them grow--like with all living creatures. Thanks for appreciating!

Krystyna--Thank you, for your loving comment! Hugs to you back...

In the process of our interaction we will be transported to our dream world with out we ourselves knowing...that what I feel, my dear :)

I have so many, realising at least one or two is a fulfilling expereince...

Now, don't ask me about my dreams..Dreams are not to be talked about, because then the chances that they happen become rare...as the dream itself becomes rarefied...its my discovery :))
[but perhaps it could bean established theory]

I hate it.

When I was engaged in Drama classes, it was burned into my mind that responses like, "It's good," and "I liked it," are completely inappropriate toward the betterment of the artist.

However, I've never been one to take instruction verbatim. So...

This is awesome, and I love it!

Tim--If you say "I hate it", then you are obliged to explain WHY, then make some "constructive" suggestions on what the failings are and what direction one must look to for improvement--well, that's Drama class, you have to be a thorn goading each other to further effort!
We writers are too sensitive to be thusly criticized--we just get upset! Angry, even...or in despair, perhaps suicidal...Besides, it's too much work for you to come up with all that stuff.

In that context, "This is awesome, and I love it!" is not only appropriate, it will also be fully believed, even if meant insincerely...no poet tires of praise, not anyone I know, at least.

Now, if you want to be "constructive", one may expand upon the qualities ( or specific lines) one admires about the poem, so as to encourage further flowering of the art...

But your one-line comment (from the heart, I'm sure) is quite enough to make my day!

(By the way, when directing actors, I believe the technique is to say "that was truly awesome, but I KNOW you have something even more special inside you...let's try that again." Have to tiptoe around their sensitive egos, too.)

my dear,

I am amazed at the way, you explain how a writer/poet takes a comment..

Subconciously, I too fall in that category and

But despite that I am so careless about making a comment..i just say what ever comes to my mind..ofcourse takes care not to hurt the writer much...sometimes its just fun for me...especially when some one gets sentimental...i try to crack jokes there!

I need to be careful :)

loved to read this discussion with Tim, my bird

Subconciously, I too fall in that category and often get upset with 'certian' type of comments :)

now don't ask what those 'certain' types..it is a bit uncertain as the Certain Kind of Woman :))

Devika--You are very special in the way you are so spontaneous in what you say--I appreciate that about you!

I have noticed when you have made a flippant comment, you often step back and tease afterward, to make sure it is not misunderstood. This is very effective.

I also notice that a lot of bloggers fall into a pattern of finding argument with what was written. Sometimes this is unnecessary. Maybe it is a way of trying to keep the conversation going, but I prefer finding ways to agree. Unless there is a strong disagreement. Otherwise people's feelings get hurt easily, more than we realize.

I think blogging brings this vulnerability out in people, maybe because we can't see facial expressions to see the intended feeling behind a comment. So we could be reading negative feelings where they were not meant!

True dear, very true...

One needs to be careful, but being careful takes the fun out of blogging, i feel...

So I sometimes go to the other and explain my point....

But, i need to say what comes to my fully..else you know, it kind of itches me :))

What I hate is my ineptitude to add anything substantial to the artistic discussion -- certainly not the work itself. I hope I didn't come across as though I hated the work! *eep*

Tim--oops--I guess I used too many words in my answer, because I certainly did not take your comment as a negative!

Actually, you have contributed greatly to this artistic discussion, with your innovative and useful word "eep"...which I will treasure forever!

"is it enough
that I see you

or is there another reward
for beauty
"

I think the last lines of your poem - that I've liked to read repeatedly very much - contain among others some true insight into the impact a comment may have on the author being adressed.

At first, there is a very special reward in being looked at, regardless of your real or esteemed beauty. And this reward almost pays the rent. An author will be recognized, I assume, or else she or he won't come along as an 'author'. Maybe there are selfish perfect minds that don't need to feel the rewards of any attention. But I never have met some. And me I am not such a person, of course. And this longing contains – deep down and usually not mentioned too openly – the deep archaic want to feel a beauty in yourself. The way you sometimes feel the beauty in something outside of you

Secondly, getting some 'well done' makes you feel happy like a child. And I don't see any reason why some 'harum, ok, but..' could substitute this effect! If I want ice-cream I want ice-cream, no muffins.

Third, being taken seriously – the 'but' part upstairs – may help you. May deepen your insight in writing or human nature or the next crisis of stock exchange. But, to be honest, usually I do quite well without that unless I have asked for or want to undergo some training I picked on my own account.

I liked the discussion in this topic very much as well as I loved your poem.

My best wishes
Susanne

Susanne--I am really in awe of how perfectly you put into words how a writer feels, and I am reading it over many times, with pleasure!

Thank you so much for this gift (and your visit, which I really appreciate)--
Now I feel like I just got ice cream, muffins, and a coupon for a free dinner!

On the answer, my dear If I say my view...

The reward for beauty is a Godly soft touch that comes through the hands of man..the image of God :)

and for is its just words that can make the Godly touch I feel...your words did that more than in this one :)
