Winter is

Winter is
your gift to me

wonder
of a world
turned to glass

voices
stilled to
crystal chimes
and whispers

not the comfort
I would seek

but here you meet me
shy, silently

reaching out

to gild the edges
of shattered ice

the dunes
that crack under my step

stroking, slipping over
white waves
as if your hand were a mirror

it is now
when the earth has no breath
to block your light

and the wind burns away my skin
that you can touch me

Hi Firebird!
This beautiful poem "Winter is" is
your gift for me.
I am not a winter lover/I like winter looking throught the window/
but you words
made winter more warm.

Have a beautiful day!

Lorraine--Thank you so much for the wonderful compliment!
I have to say I was always fearful of Winter, but this year I can feel the beauty, and, yes, love also...it surprised me. It seems that when I remove fear, love shows its face--

Krystyna--I do prefer warmth, myself! I am happy to share the gift of finding beauty even in the cold...but perhaps we can have both worlds! Thanks for your warm comment...

My dear, we have winters from November- february..

The peak is like at 2-5 C -- and extends for about two weeks between December 25 to January 10..or so...

but then its all changing..now its more warm most of the season, the extreme cold days are less...

I love winters...infact I love extremeties. Summer heat upto 40 C is fine ..but at times it goes to 44-45 and then I go crank...and just stay indoors :)

started with winter, reached summer :))

winter -- excepts for the weight of clothes on me; I love everthing about it....
Hot soup, freshest of fish, dry fruits..

then roaming in the empty streets at night....

haha, the story will have no ending :))

love,
devika
