why I can't sleep
I am not alarmed to hear
this snort
in my ear
of the territorial rhinoceros
so near
nor do I awake
in fear
nor blink
at the howl
of your midnight train
a mere
3 inches from my brain
(I can fall asleep again)
but, my dear
I must complain--
this whisper
your body makes
rising
and falling
the soft light
spilling
into me
through your skin
such a disturbance--!
this snort
in my ear
of the territorial rhinoceros
so near
nor do I awake
in fear
nor blink
at the howl
of your midnight train
a mere
3 inches from my brain
(I can fall asleep again)
but, my dear
I must complain--
this whisper
your body makes

and falling
the soft light
spilling
into me
through your skin
such a disturbance--!

now that's a lovely reason to be disturbed! I'm smiling at your delicious words as always :)
Now that's a unique way of looking at a snoring partner. And I moved from the bed to the recliner.
Gracie--So good to see you in this New Year--thanks for the comment--Hope you have happiness and good fortune always
(and love, of course)!
Pat--A tantalizing comment--I can only speculate on the circumstances of the move...hope it's not permanent!
Have a wonderful New Year, hope you're finding some time for yourself...
Need a fix of your poetry, can you help?
Oh, Pat--I am trying but exhaustion is hard to fight--the brain cells are the first to go!
(My muse has a way of making me trade a good night's sleep for a poem--is that unfair, or what?)
