late fruit

it's my fault
the blue dahlia
is blooming late

its ripe goddess bulk
leaning on stilts
into the near-frost nights

and yesterday
they rolled away
my entire house
in four dumpsters

my fault, naturally

that the trees are, finally
down
after a day-long barrage
of men, ropes, and saws

and my fault, now
in this late light

that the mountains
glow golden
into the blue distance

over fallen logs
past a shimmer of creek
not seen

in that lush season
of rotting beams,
misplaced flower bulbs,
moss in the mind

You've been busy. Hope things are going well. Four dumpsters? Only four?

That's true - none of it's your fault - uh, going by my take on this. This one kind of makes me want to do psychoanalysis, but I wouldn't know what I was doing and you could always say it was projection, we might get in an argument, maybe we'd need a blog mediator...

In any case, you write too lucidly to have MITM (moss in the mind) - in my clinical opinion.

mb--Thanks for visiting! Yes, things are going well...yes, it was a very small (550 sq ft) house, that will not be missed!

paul--so good to see you here--
I have no objection to projection, if it's favorable!
Perhaps the moss has become fertilizer...

Isn't there failure in all we are doing? But let's have a look at the other side: failure is but the far side of success (At least, I hope so..)

Nice to see you back writing and making lovely pictures.

its my fault

what a familiar anthem that is for me. but, being that my philosophy included the notion that we are all interconnected, then if it's my fault then it is no less everyone elses too. : )

big hugs,

I'm pretty partial to moss in the mind myself (not that I have alot of choice). So how big's the new place??

ss--I'm not really putting too much blame on myself--since the outcome is something I've wished for...(although I forgot to dig up the dahlia for the winter and it may be frozen beyond help--hope not)
Thanks for the encouragement!

Pat--You're an inspiring example of "moss as fertile ground"!
( I have noticed that it makes weeds grow like crazy!)
Actually the new house will be 1716 sq ft --squaring off an L-shaped footprint and adding a second story loft. Now the team is dodging the snow to pour the concrete slab...then we can breathe easier, as the walls will be built in an indoor workshop and assembled by crane on site when finished!
