creators of flames
your body is perfect in the dark
beneath
that blind overbearing bark
is green tenderness
unscarred
and I sense
in the gentle turbulence
of sleep
the earth's rosin
rising
crevasses widening
as if lightning split
or a match lit
inside the shredded heartwood
dry as tinder
waiting for the crisp wind
of dawn
you and I
creators
of flames
beneath
that blind overbearing bark
is green tenderness
unscarred
and I sense
in the gentle turbulence
of sleep
the earth's rosin
rising
crevasses widening
as if lightning split
or a match lit
inside the shredded heartwood
dry as tinder
waiting for the crisp wind
of dawn
you and I
creators
of flames

Wonderful to see you again--I just LOVE your comment! Thanks for visiting even though I've been away for so long...I appreciate it...
Yes ma'am, you are a creator of fire!!! Now I have to go take a shower.
i say again - oh how i wish you published your work out in the world of print.
you have such precision.
i envy your talent.
I like this poem. Photo too. Nice to see you again.

Pat--Funny how that works...the more fires, the more showers we need--must be a natural phenomenon...
bird--You are so kind...I do hope to be printed someday, but it's been hard to compile a manuscript that holds together as a unit--that seems to be what publishers are looking for...but it will happen, I promise!
Meanwhile you make me very happy with your comment, and certainly you have no reason for envy, with your own precision and quick wit!
mb--I'm glad you didn't give up checking in on me--as busy as you are! I'll try to be more frequent with my posts...thanks...
very evocative
