waterfall speaks

tell me
troubled water
is the sweetest

tell me
every time
the smooth earth under me
gives way suddenly
to air

when my cry bursts out
from the jagged rocks
like a roar

when I am trapped
breathless
between earth and sky

when my shattered body
falls

tell me
troubled water
is the sweetest

tell me
it was my desire
to fly

This could mean so many things Firebird.
Earthquakes and tsunamis - what could be more devastating. It is hard not to be drawn into the Japanese people's pain - yet it could simply be the unique perspective of the journey of a waterfall crashing down the rocks...

But it also reminds me of a cult here in Canada that met secretly in the US somewhere wherein people were pushed off cliffs to face their fears. In the underground brochures was written : "and I will teach you how to fly"...a couple acquaintances met their demise in this manner - so heartbreaking.

Janice--your comment is so interesting (and what a chilling story!) Were these people expected to survive their fall, or was it a way to commit suicide? I'll have to Google to see if there is a news report.

Devika--thanks for the comment--love to see your face again!

Lorraine--you can face the river, even be the river--I imagine you can face just about anything, you have so much energy!

Sprig--thank you, I am happy to see you here! And I enjoyed visiting your blogs, too.

Paul--I am happy you found this blog (how did you find it?)--and I loved listening to the music on yours, you are very talented. Thanks for your visit and comment!

Really nice, consistent with my experience of life and uncanny in its resemblance to a dream I had a few nights ago. I couldn't believe this when I read it. You pretty much turned my dream into a poem.

That's amazing, too bad I can't remember being in your dream--but I must have been there...

I am trying very hard to imagine experiencing this poem as a dream--was it a feeling of fear, loss of control, pain, or empowerment?
