raise the dawn
red sun
with your fingers folded
do you know me
clouds upon your brow
do you remember
seeds in the urgent earth
are you waking
skin of the desert soil
are you breaking
sun
with your eyes upon me
can you touch me
white and searing
as a cymbal crashing
will you spare me
face the dawn
as if the sun
were rising
where will I plant my feet
to raise the dawn
with your fingers folded
do you know me
clouds upon your brow
do you remember
seeds in the urgent earth
are you waking
skin of the desert soil
are you breaking
sun
with your eyes upon me
can you touch me
white and searing
as a cymbal crashing
will you spare me
face the dawn
as if the sun
were rising
where will I plant my feet
to raise the dawn

Marie--Such a treat to have you visit! Do you have a blog that I can go to? Thanks for the comment...
lovely. has the feel of an incantation or prayer.
Hayden--thanks, I was thinking of it in a similar way...
I am a bit concerned. It's not like you to let a month go by without posting a picture and a lovely poem. I am sure everyone misses this special treat they could always count on!
Hi firebird, hoping you are well!
I've had to (temporarily?) close my blog to 'outside' readers - I'll send you an invite if you send me the email address linked to your profile.

Tom--Thanks for the encouragement--I do need to hear that sometimes someone reads this blog--and sometimes it means something to them...
Hayden--don't even think of stopping your blog--that would be a crime indeed! I'll definitely follow you to your new spot--
...took my breath away...
Lorraine--mmmm...love what you say!
Ohh! I missed commenting here...I thought i did,
beautifully expressed, my dear :)

devika
ps: you got to be keeping your promise....more time for poetry :)
Devika--you make it easier to make time for poetry, with your gracious comments--so much appreciated!
Always love to read good poems, my dear bird...and you know I look forward to yours :)
so much more, since i don't have time to explore my own poetic skills -- if at all :)
love,
devika
