rest
enough reaching for the sun
let's ease our wings
onto the thermals
and rest
it's what we do best
cutting tracks
into the warm wind
with a weightless breast
caressed
and carried
by that sheer river
of broken light
that holds the sun out of reach
and lowers us
like hatchlings
into the feathered nest
of night
let's ease our wings
onto the thermals
and rest
it's what we do best
cutting tracks
into the warm wind
with a weightless breast
caressed
and carried
by that sheer river
of broken light
that holds the sun out of reach
and lowers us
like hatchlings
into the feathered nest
of night

Vivian, the most beautiful description of "letting go" what ever we're chasing and rest. I love it!!
sniffling, sneezing and all!
I still need to reach for the dayquil, though.
Many thanks, Pat--
I did write this poem with you in mind, since you made me sit down and get to work--
I did not know yet that you were sick--
but I guess the theme of the poem was appropriate!
And I hope it helps you to feel better about resting--since I know it is so exasperating to have your life on hold while you recover!
Get well soon...
Hi Firebird -- I love the incredible imagery in this and the softness and grace in it. And "sheer river of broken light" is really lovely.
Would you believe I still have this crap, the cough part anyway. Seems like colds last longer than they used to. Thank you!!
Clare--It's always a treat to have you come by--and I love your generous and lyrical comments!
Thank you so much!
Pat--sorry you are still not feeling well--now I have a cold too!
I'm getting by on pseudoephedrine and warm water rinses up my nose...
I always have a lingering cough after a cold, which is probably allergic.
But--I do feel Spring in the air!
Some lovely images suggesting a kind of graceful submitting, the way I read it.
Thank yo, mb--I'm so happy to see you here again! Such a touching comment...hope you are relaxing once in a while, yourself!
