Spring, don't turn

Spring, don't turn
your head again
to Winter

look at me only

Spring, let me burn
your bright wings
free from the charred snow

let me
touch your darkness
with my breath

melt your icy eyes
to mine

look, my love, it is Spring
we have
awakened the sky

look, how passing blue
you are
without clouds

Spring is here though winter's fingers may still be unwilling to let go completely as it proved the other day by lightly snowing all day long...

Really like the phrase "free from charred snow" - it makes me think of all the dirty snow on the sides of the roads as a result of sanding.

Love that last verse Firebird - such a lovely play of words. Hope you are able to post again in the near future :).

Devika--Thank you for your loyalty and friendship, and for pushing me to "produce"! Your posts are quite moving, I wanted you to know that since I can't write a comment on your blog...!

Janice--Yes, we've had some snow lately too, and still cold weather--
I had just the same image in mind of the dirty snow--it seemed to be a metaphor for the chaos left over from winter that becomes visible suddenly in spring, and we then have to deal with it suddenly--I never feel up to it!

I can think of posting again soon, when I have such inspiring visitors as you two to look forward to!
