snails, worms, and other losses
darkness
silken exploration of tongues
lose yourself
to the small gnawing mouths
that peel your layers away
like sand
against your shell
darkness
serpentine blind fingers
snake delicately through
the hunger
of first spring green
the blaze
of burnt grass
in this pure world
where darkness pulls
your colors
home into its sheer
translucent skin
lose yourself

I can definitely get my self lost in "silken exploration of tongues". Oh yeah, we're talking about snails and worms under the "green blaze of burnt grass". Amazing to take a title like that and write such a spectactular poem. Bravo!!!
Thanks for the great comment, Pat!
And you're the first robin to get the worms here...love that!
I had to read this twice to relish the sheer beauty of words.
Gautami--You have a truly eloquent way with your words! I appreciate your lovely comment!
Such beautiful imagery! I especially love the line "in this pure world where darkness pulls your colors home into its sheer translucent skin."
i can't quite keep up with this poem, but i love it anyway. as guatami says... the "sheer beauty of the words" sets me sailing. thank you!
