barriers
are you alive
in these concrete walls
God of stones
did they crush you into dust
when they threw me here
among strangers
was it my soul
I saw shatter
is this the river of my life
floating upward
like soft winter breath
dissolving into mist
as the sun captures
each particle
is this what I have become
remembering
you
who are light enough
to pass
through ice, and iron
through the sheer barricades
of time
you, who never
knew limits
in these concrete walls
God of stones
did they crush you into dust
when they threw me here
among strangers
was it my soul
I saw shatter
is this the river of my life
floating upward
like soft winter breath
dissolving into mist
as the sun captures
each particle
is this what I have become
remembering
you
who are light enough
to pass
through ice, and iron
through the sheer barricades
of time
you, who never
knew limits

Well, after all, I've known SOME limits...
Lorraine--so many of your comments are so inspiring, they make me wish I could turn them into poems...and so I try--
Percy, my dear--of course I remember that long, lush weekend in Belize, when we put that to the test...
