Lorraine--thanks, I really got lucky getting this shot--it was getting dark, and I was sure I was going to frighten it away--but he was very well-behaved! I'm glad his mother wasn't around, though--I hear she is a very big and tough mama raccoon!
This is such a great shot! I made a children's book for my son, and there is a page in it about a raccoon. I used this photo as my inspiration for the chalk pastel and ink pen drawing I did for the illustration. The book was only meant to be for personal use so at the time I wasn't concerned with copyrights, but now I've got people telling me I should publish it. I don't feel right about going through the process of getting it published without permission from you for the use of your photo as my inspiration for that illustration. I don't know if this image is copyright protected, but either way, I am wondering if I could somehow get a copyright release for this image from you! :) I would be so incredibly grateful!! I'd be glad to show you my pastel/pen rendition of your image if you'd like to see it. Thank you so much! And again, a BEAUTIFUL photograph. - Allison

Bhargav--I like the insights in your comment! So true, all that you say...
Devika--Thanks--I don't think you have raccoons where you are in India, right? They are not the most desirable neighbors, although very cute.
