Wow! Is that an orchid? Very aptly named 'Morning Glory'

Rakesh--This is actually the real name of this flower (a vine, not related to orchids) that opens in the early morning, closes in the heat of the sun, and only lasts one day!
Thanks for your visit, Rakesh!

A morning glory so close!

We have it in our place...a wild vine with bluish violet fragile flowers...but thay are relatively small.

this seems enlarged..or are they larger there? or perhaps, we just named so for some other flower here.

Nice capture Firebird, in all its glory!

thanks and wishes!

Hi Devika--The morning glory flowers that you have sound very similar to ours. The photo is much enlarged by a special close-up lens on the camera. Our morning glories can also grow wild, sometimes taking over the rest of the garden!
Thank you for your lovely comment and wishes...

You have gardens, firebird?
are the pictures here in the blog from your gardens??
just keen to know...I grow plants, have a verandah garden at my third foor flats...25 pots or so..
but never tried photography :-)

PS: if this is enlarged, then it should be the same..even there they just creep into the entire area..covering all with their blooming glory..

Hi Firebird! Devika headed me this way - am glad she did and look forward to visiting now that I'm back online :)
A beautiful macro of this flower - love the colours. We have pure white morning glories here.

Devika--don't get me started on gardens! (just kidding) I grow flowers every place I can find a spot--I've run out of room in my own yard pretty fast, so I plant in other gardens in my area...
I'm impressed by how hardworking you are to plant 25 pots! I'm sure it must be lovely...

Janice--Yes, Devika told me about your blog, and I've been enjoying your photos and poems, too! I'm so delighted that you came to visit.
(By the way, I love your self-portrait!)
We have a flower that looks like a giant white morning-glory but is called a moon-flower, and opens at night, here. I'm not sure if it's native or imported.
