beauty

beauty
drinks fire
with its eyes

slaps you
with soft paws

holds your head
gently
in its jaws

beauty
will strip you
like meat

kick you
inside
stop your breath

dangle you
on a thread of wonder

before
skin heals
and bones mend

beauty waits
to strike again

Beauty can be so damaging. Most only realise it after it has stricken and damaged them. I like it.

gautami-- I hope you were not too damaged, and that you have fully recovered...you appear quite unscarred at present...
but perhaps that is an illusion...

pat--Meow, CATNIP!! mmmmm...thanks

/t. thanks for the smile--needed that.. edges are good...

mb-- I DO love the "killer" compliment, seriously...!

carmen, borut--yes, I see the tiger in this poem--do you think it's still in its cage? Or is it stalking around us at this moment...

Thanks for the comments...
