love like a sword

underneath your skin
lie continents

lakes and valleys
molded and torn
by time and weather

hidden
till love like a sword
lays you bare

soft quicksand
under my touch

I like the way this suggests uncertain interior landscapes to be discovered in someone else. That's the way it feels sometimes!

mb--You're so good at reading into my poems--thanks for the insight...

gautami--perhaps beyond the words we have for love--or beyond our familiar feelings of love--but of course love itself is a whole universe, beyond everything we know. At least that's how I see it...
my small words are only a hint of the real thing!

snowsparkle--I'm so happy you found a way to return, if only for a moment! Missing you, counting the days until your life simmers down...
