wishes

what I know about wishes
could fill a book
shaken overhead till the pages
run clear as maple sap

what I know about wishes
could fill a song
lifting leaves from their twigs, like feathers
inhaled by the wind

what I know about wishes
could fill a river
swallowing fingers and feet
diving off mountains

what I know about wishes
could fill my arms
with tails and tentacles, with trails
blazed through a storm of green leaves

You know a lot about wishes!

I do find myself wanting to know more about what exactly you've learned about them. Do you think they are worth while? Do they come true?

I especially like the second stanza. The idea of filling a whole song with your knowledge about wishes, and of a song that lifts leaves off of trees, and of a wind that inhales feathers, really does it for me. I find that the metaphors and images in your poetry are always multilayered like this, and always take a lot of unexpected twists and turns. Its a cool style.

Poems are like wishes. You send one into the universe and when it comes back, you notice that things have shifted a bit. After a while, you notice that your thoughts/wishes/beliefs cause changes in reality in small ways.
It is not impossible that we have the power inside us to create our own world. Living by this principle (finding the positive energy within and directing it) is a trip!
Deep down inside is where TRUE wishes are. True wishes are connected to the rest of the universe. When we go into that well, we find our power.
But you know this already.

perhaps when we become that deeply connected our wishing matures into clear perception of reality.

This poem touched me somewhere deep inside my soul. Somewhere to the eternity of my Self.
