so much is new
so much is new
again
the cradle of your cheek
curved like a cat's back
eagles that hold down the sky
with their wings
planets splitting at the heart
like ripe melons
so much grows
again
spilling out
from your smile
like a candle flame
climbing the breath of trees
again
the cradle of your cheek
curved like a cat's back
eagles that hold down the sky
with their wings
planets splitting at the heart
like ripe melons
so much grows
again
spilling out
from your smile
like a candle flame
climbing the breath of trees

I love the way stanzas 2-4 take you from micro to macro and back again! Wonderfully vivid, visual images, as always. This sounds so hopeful. Even that last image, which is potentially a destructive one, seems here to communicate light and heat and eagerness. The photo adds a sweet greenness, it's lovely.
mb: your insight is so very valuable to me--
I lose my perspective sometimes...
you helped me with your comment on the last line, I was about to change it but you understood!
It is hard to know if I'm communicating, but you always come through--bless your heart!
firebird, each line is so vivid and evocative. it was a good thing i was sitting down when i read this... this poem had the same effect on me as a passionate kiss... weak in the knees!
ss--weak in the knees? maybe melting like a chocolate kiss inside your aluminum wrapper, hmm?
(anyone who doesn't know why I'm saying that--go to snowsparkle's blog for the cool picture!)
