sliding away
sliding away
that one perfect day
when life held you tight
as you flamed across the sky
and the universe
rolled itself
small and snug
inside your chest
breathless
behind your breathing
melting away
that one perfect day
like snow
down your bare shoulders
that one perfect day
when life held you tight
as you flamed across the sky
and the universe
rolled itself
small and snug
inside your chest
breathless
behind your breathing
melting away
that one perfect day
like snow
down your bare shoulders

Firebird, your imagery is amazing. Here, hot and cold, elusive and slippery... not unlike the fiery goldfish above... you've managed to capture something ephemeral and powerful.
That one little goldfish holds the essence of the entire universe, even your words. Thank you for the awakening.
mb and mermaid:
You know, I wasn't sure about the goldfish picture--it caught my eye among other pix in my file--wow, you both really picked up all the connections!
I feel your comments becoming part of the poem, like flowing tails or fins...
every one of your poems makes me gasp at the magnificence of your beauty and depth. wow... i'm just stunned by the powerful way you put words together and grateful that you share them here.
(sorry, there was a baaad typo in my last comment...had to delete it)
ss: Your comments are magnificent in their eloquence (as always) and every word is appreciated!
