monarch
the grass sleeps underground
dreaming of rain
paper shadows
ride the thin wind
on orange wings
the sun leans lower
sky breathes southward
you remain
dropping pennies
one by one
into my heart
dreaming of rain
paper shadows
ride the thin wind
on orange wings
the sun leans lower
sky breathes southward
you remain
dropping pennies
one by one
into my heart

sky breathes southward
This poem gives me an ephemeral, tender and breathless kind of feeling. A moment.
Nice. I read it before the title registered re. butterflies, and just took it as a poem about thinking about someone you love, so it works both ways.
you paint so beautifully with your words... for me, it's like watching a movie in slow motion with a captivating soundtrack... lot's of depth and dimension to this one. you have a remarkable talent and i'm grateful you have shared this here.
mb: You comment is special to me, because I had been feeling unsure about that line! Your input is much appreciated...
percy: The title was deliberately ambiguous--thanks for noticing!
Your comments are insightful, as usual.
snowsparkle: Wow, I am honored by your praise! So vividly worded, too. Love your latest post on your blog--couldn't find words yet to respond.
