what we do for love
what we do for love
will bear fruit
the one whose song
called the stone
from your heart
burned a scarlet trail
along the grass
the one who carved a window
to set free the moon
left you to stare
empty
through a glass
onto a soft horizon
where resting
in dew
what we do for love
will bear fruit
rising solid
over a rosy ocean
pulling blood tides
between islands
will bear fruit
the one whose song
called the stone
from your heart
burned a scarlet trail
along the grass
the one who carved a window
to set free the moon
left you to stare
empty
through a glass
onto a soft horizon
where resting
in dew
what we do for love
will bear fruit
rising solid
over a rosy ocean
pulling blood tides
between islands

This is a beautiful and comforting thought. I certainly hope that what we do for love is not in vain, even when the situations don't work out as we would have hoped. Often I believe that this is true, and that heaven keeps a record of all of the lost loves, that they are all sacred, and that they are revisited and resolved in some way that is even more fulfilling than we could have possibly imagined.
I loved the refrain "what we do for love will bear fruit". And I also really dug the "rosy ocean" and "blood tides". That image is so powerful it really does justice ot the majesty of your subject. Keep on blessing us with the good stuff!
I am touched that you feel that in some way justice was done to the subject. It was hard to know how to even start. I really felt it was an important message--thanks for the validation.

I like this because "stone" can be interpreted different ways — as a rock, or as the "stone" of a fruit.... i.e., the pit, the seed, from which fruit grows.
That's so true, MB! Thanks for your comments.
