seaspray blue

swans at Christmas

only one Sound
leads me through a gray day
when the sky
is shut tight

one sound
on a windy day
lifts the birds
motionless

swelling the sea
under swans
like white thunderclouds

pressing the shore
with salt fingers

one promise

endless as
waves
beating

holds
the wings of my heart
in the air

pink begonia

dark of the year

what is this hell
but a beginning

soft pit of night
where words
give way and fall

dark arms open
like flowers

molecules rise
like stars from your soul
drops of bone

a whisper of thunder

flash
of a sudden smile

storm of
two hands touching

river leaves

rose opens and falls

rose opens and falls
there is no holding
the air between petals

egg shivers
there is no holding
the feet, the tiny beak

rain specks the window
there is no holding the flow
from open eyes

no holding the universe
no holding the rose
from falling

peach chrysanthemum

when I rise

when I rise
the sun falls in behind me
wrapping my heels in gold

when I rise
my skin breaks away
from the core of the wind

when I fall
through leaves and memories
the earth wakes

lifting its ears
shaking its mane
when I rise

spotty on purple

you want forever

you want forever
here it is

floating in the lake
below the weeds

in the falling petals
that darken in my eyes

roots reaching back
unseen

you want forever
here it is

reach out your hand
like a river through sand

forever
melts through your fingers

like sugar
in a tropical sea

african violets

when stars die

when stars die
across distances
something green travels on

when stars fall
cutting the darkness
something green remains

not the missed glances
or the stars' tears

but the desire
pouring out of my throat
green in the night
